Pleasant Grove Church of Christ will host a Super Saturday Vacation Bible School on Saturday, July 12. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is open to anyone ages preschool through fifth grade. Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Allensville, KY will be hosting a Vacation Bible School Saturday July 12, 2008 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Our program is called Outrigger Island. All children from ages 2-12 are welcome. The church is located on Allensville Rd. about 2/10 of a mile from the intersection of 102 and US-79. The Tiny Town Baptist Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School for children age 3-grade 6 on July 13-17. The times are 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. nightly.

Tom Tuggle to be honored Thursday
Elkton Postmaster Tom Tuggle will be honored as NNA Kentucky Postmaster of the Year on Thursday, June 19th, 5:30 p.m. at the old courthouse. Everyone is invited.
Barrett Brown, son of Roger and Ann Brown, of Elkton, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine at the college’s graduation ceremony May 10.
Brown received the Albert B. Chandler Award for having the highest GPA throughout all four years of medical school and was selected by the Department of Surgery to receive the Francis M. Massie Award for Excellence in Surgery.

Kentucky State Police release press statement seeking help in locating Todd County man missing since 1982.

(Madisonville, KY) - The Kentucky State Police are requesting the public's assistance with locating a missing person from Elkton, KY. Perry Juerrell Stokes has not been seen or heard from since August 24, 1982.
On August 27, 1982, the Kentucky State Police Post 2 Madisonville was contacted by the victim's father, Douglas Stokes, in reference to his missing son. Douglas Stokes reported that he last saw his son at a residence on Stringtown Road on August 24, 1982. He had been squirrel hunting. Perry Stokes was last seen wearing a pair of blue jeans, a shirt of unknown color, a camouflage hat, tan boots and a brown belt with a German-type eagle on the buckle. Mr. Stokes is a white male. He is approximately 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was twenty (20) years of age.
Anyone with information concerning Stokes' whereabouts is urged to contact the Kentucky State Police at 1-270-676-3313 or toll free in Kentucky at 1-800-222-5555.
