The city of Guthrie, Kentucky is receiving RFQs for the Guthrie Transportation Museum until October 16th, 2009. The project includes two early 20th century buildings (8,000 square feet), currently in a ruinous state. The project will require extensive knowledge of historic preservation techniques and methods. This to be, state-of-the-art museum facility will also require knowledge of the L.E.E.D. certification program. Currently, the project estimate for completion stands at 1.2 million, or $1,200,000. This project has been noticed state wide as the hub project of the revitalization efforts of the community of Guthrie, Kentucky. The University of Kentucky created the original proposals for this project in 2007 for the grant application process. The University of Kentucky's College of Design was engaged in the process of creating the downtown revitalization plan. The project program includes museum space, galleries, curatorial offices, ticketing areas, museum library space and archival space. All proposals will be accepted (within the submittal period) and reviewed by committees and narrowed down to a group of "finalist." These finalist will be interviewed for the project from which one architect will be selected
