Evelyn Boone's weekly New Era column -- Nora Mae

Another great column in this week's Kentucky New Era by Todd County native Evelyn Boone.

Boone wrote this week of a name known by practically all Todd Countians aged 50 and up, Miss Nora Mae Fox. Fox was know as a fantistic pianist giving lessons to many locals. Nora was the organist for United Methodist Church for almost 50 years and Boone reported that she only missed one service in all those years. Truly amazing.

Deputies rehired -- temporarily

The Kentucky New Era has a front page story in today's paper stating that the Todd County sheriff's department has rehired two sheriffs but apparently only through the end of the month.

The money to pay the deputies came from the fiscal court but County Judge-Executive Arthur Green says there will be no more money. Judge Green was quoted saying “Because we have little industry, our tax base is not very large. We can only expend funds we have because we have to have a balanced budget.”

Sheriff Stokes said “I have no idea how I’m going to make it. One idea I know I’m not going to have is to borrow money for it.”
